ในการสมรสตามแบบอิสลาม(หรือที่เรียกว่า “นิก๊ะฮฺ”)นั้น  ก่อนทำพิธีสมรส  นบีมุฮัมมัดจะให้โอวาทการใช้ชีวิตแก่คู่บ่าวสาวโดยหยิบยกข้อความบางตอนจากคัมภีร์กุรอานมาอ่านให้ฟัง และการปฏิบัติของท่านยังคงเป็นที่ปฏิบัติกันอยู่จนถึงปัจจุบัน  ข้อความดังกล่าวมีใจความดังนี้ : 

“โอ้มนุษย์ทั้งหลาย  จงเกรงกลัวพระเจ้าผู้ทรงสร้างสูเจ้าจากชีวิตหนึ่ง และจากชีวิตนั้น พระองค์ได้สร้างคู่ครองให้ และจากคู่ครองนั้น พระองค์ได้แพร่กระจายชายหญิงจำนวนมากมายบนหน้าแผ่นดิน...” (กุรอาน 4:1)

เรื่องราวการสร้างอาดัมในคัมภีร์กุรอานบอกให้เรารู้ว่าก่อนพระเจ้าสร้างมนุษย์คนแรก  พระองค์ได้บอกวัตถุประสงค์การสร้างไว้ว่าพระองค์จะสร้าง “เคาะลีฟะฮฺ” ขึ้นมาบนหน้าแผ่นดิน  คำว่าเคาะลีฟะฮฺมีความหมายนัยหนึ่งว่า “ตัวแทน” และอีกนัยหนึ่งคือ “ประชากรรุ่นแล้วรุ่นเล่า”  

ข้อความในโอวาทดังกล่าวข้างต้นบอกมนุษย์ทั้งหมดให้รู้ว่าพระเจ้าสร้างทุกสิ่งมาเป็นคู่เพื่อยืนยันว่าพระเจ้าเท่านั้นเป็นหนึ่งเดียว และที่พระเจ้าสร้างมนุษย์มาให้มีเพศชายและเพศหญิงก็เพื่อให้มนุษย์แพร่ขยายประชากรโลกโดยการแต่งงาน และพระองค์ได้เตรียมปัจจัยยังชีพไว้เรียบร้อยแล้วสำหรับมนุษย์หลายพันล้านคนที่จะเกิดขึ้นมา 

การแต่งงานจึงเป็นการรับใช้ความประสงค์ของพระเจ้าและการเจตนาขัดขวางการแต่งงานถือเป็นการขัดความประสงค์ของพระองค์  ความสุขทางเพศจึงเป็นของขวัญที่พระเจ้ามอบให้แก่คู่บ่าวสาวหลังพิธีแต่งงานและลูกคือรางวัลตอบแทนที่จะตามมาในภายหลัง

การมีความสัมพันธ์ทางเพศระหว่างผู้ชายและผู้หญิงหลังผ่านพิธีแต่งงานทางศาสนาจึงเป็นที่อนุมัติ หากไม่ผ่านพิธีแต่งงานทางศาสนา  การไปจดทะเบียนสมรสอย่างเดียวจึงไม่ต่างไปจากการจดทะเบียนการผิดประเวณี

แม้ในปัจจุบัน  การทำศัลยกรรมที่ก้าวหน้าจะสามารถแปลงเพศและใบหน้าผู้ชายให้กลายเป็นผู้หญิงได้   หากอิมามผู้ทำพิธีแต่งงานรู้ อิมามจะไม่ทำพิธีแต่งงานให้ เพราะถ้าทำไป อิมามก็ต้องแบกบาปไว้ และถึงแม้อิมามทำพิธีแต่งงานให้โดยไม่รู้  การแต่งงานนั้นก็ไม่ถือว่าถูกต้องและไม่มีผล

“O people, fear God who created you from a single soul, and from that soul He created a mate, and from that mate He spread men and women on the earth...” (Quran 4:1)

The story of the creation of Adam in the Quran tells us that before God created the first human being, He stated the purpose of creation, that He would create a “Kaliph” on the earth. The word Caliph means “representative” and “generation after generation”.

The above sermon tells all human beings that God created everything in pairs to confirm that God alone is one. God created man and woman so that man could multiply the world’s population through marriage. He has already prepared the sustenance for the billions of people who will be born.

Marriage is therefore a service to God’s will, and intentionally obstructing marriage is against His will. Sexual pleasure is a gift that God gives to the newlyweds after the wedding ceremony, and children are the reward that will follow later.

Therefore, having sexual relations between a man and a woman after a religious wedding ceremony is permissible. If a religious wedding ceremony is not performed, simply registering the marriage is no different from registering adultery.

If having sexual relations between a man and a woman without a religious wedding is a major sin after killing, then having sexual relations with the same sex is also a major sin. The Bible and the Quran tell us about the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, which show us that the men in these two cities had a taste for having sex with men. Abraham sent Lot to warn the people in these two cities. But the men there showed aggressive attitudes and wanted to hurt him. Finally, God destroyed the people of these two cities by turning the earth over and burying them under the earth beneath the ground of the Dead Sea.

For this reason, Islamic law stipulates one condition for marriage that in addition to believing in the same God, the couple must also be of the same gender, i.e. the groom must be male and the bride must be female.

Even today, advanced plastic surgery can change the gender and the face of a man to be a woman, if the Imam who performs the marriage knows, the Imam will not perform the marriage, because if he does, the Imam will bear the sin. And even if the Imam performs the marriage without knowing, the marriage is not considered valid and invalid.
