เรื่องราวการสร้างอาดัมในคัมภีร์ไบเบิลและคัมภีร์กุรอานนอกจากจะบอกให้รู้ถึงต้นกำเนิดที่มาของมนุษย์แล้ว  ยังมีข้อคิดที่ก่อให้เกิดปัญญาอีกหลายอย่าง  

คัมภีร์กุรอานกล่าวว่าวัตถุประสงค์ประการหนึ่งที่พระเจ้าสร้างอาดัมขึ้นมาก็เพื่อให้อาดัมเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของการแพร่ขยายเผ่าพันธุ์มนุษย์บนโลกใบนี้  แต่การสร้างอาดัมที่เป็นเพศชายอย่างเดียวโดยไม่มีเพศหญิง  การแพร่ขยายเผ่าพันธุ์มนุษย์ไม่อาจเป็นไปได้  พระองค์จึงสร้างมนุษย์เพศหญิงที่ชื่ออีฟขึ้นมาเป็นคู่ครองและผู้ช่วยเหลืออาดัม

คัมภีร์ไบเบิลกล่าวว่าพระเจ้าสร้างอีฟจากการดึงกระดูกซี่โครงซี่หนึ่งของอาดัมออกมาในขณะที่เขานอนหลับสนิท

หลักความศรัทธาในบรรดาคัมภีร์ก่อนๆทำให้มุสลิมไม่ปฏิเสธเรื่องการสร้างอีฟจากซี่โครงของอาดัม แต่มุสลิมจะยึดถือวจนะของพระเจ้าในเรื่องนี้จากคัมภีร์กุรอาน ขณะเดียวกัน นบีมุฮัมมัดก็พูดถึงเรื่องการสร้างผู้หญิงจากซี่โครงไว้เช่นกัน  แต่พูดเป็นเชิงเปรียบเทียบว่าลักษณะนิสัยของผู้หญิงก็เหมือนกับซี่โครงที่มีลักษณะงอๆงอนๆ ซึ่งผู้ชายต้องเข้าใจและท่านกำชับว่าอย่าได้ฝืนธรรมชาติของผู้หญิงโดยคิดจะดัดซี่โครงให้ตรง เพราะมันจะหัก นั่นหมายถึงการหย่า ผู้ชายจึงต้องรู้เรื่องนี้และรู้วิธีการบริหารความงอนของผู้หญิง

อีกบทเรียนหนึ่งที่เราได้รับจากเรื่องราวการสร้างอาดัมก็คือ  เมื่อพระเจ้าสร้างอาดัมและอีฟขึ้นมาแล้ว พระองค์ได้ให้ทั้งสองอาศัยอยู่ในสวนสวรรค์ของพระองค์ซึ่งในนั้นมีผลไม้จากต้นไม้นานาชนิดที่ทั้งสองคนสามารถกินได้ตามใจชอบยกเว้นต้นไม้ต้นหนึ่งที่พระเจ้าห้ามอาดัมและอีฟเข้าใกล้  แต่คัมภีร์กุรอานมิได้ระบุว่าต้นไม้ต้นนั้นเป็นต้นอะไรเพื่อเป็นบทเรียนว่าเมื่อพระเจ้าห้ามสิ่งใดแล้ว อย่าแม้แต่จะเข้าใกล้

แต่เมื่ออาดัมและอีฟหลงเชื่อคำหลอกลวงของซาตานและเข้าใกล้ต้นไม้ต้นนั้น  ทั้งสองลืมคำสั่งของพระเจ้าจนกินผลไม้จากต้นไม้ต้นนั้น ผลที่ตามมาก็คือ เสื้อผ้าของอาดัมและอีฟได้หลุดออกจากร่าง

เหตุการณ์ตรงนี้ทำให้เราเข้าใจได้ว่ากฎหมายอิสลามจะป้องกันมนุษย์ให้ห่างจากต้นเหตุที่จะนำไปสู่การทำความผิดมหันต์   ดังนั้น เมื่อสั่งห้ามเรื่องการผิดประเวณี คัมภีร์กุรอานมิได้ใช้คำว่า “ห้ามผิดประเวณี”  แต่ใช้คำว่า “อย่าเข้าใกล้การผิดประเวณี”  ซึ่งทำให้มีบัญญัติอื่นๆตามมา เช่น ห้ามมิให้ชายหญิงอยู่กันตามลำพังสองต่อสอง เป็นต้น 

นอกจากนี้แล้ว เรายังมีอีกบทเรียนหนึ่ง นั่นคือ เมื่ออาดัมและอีฟฝ่าฝืนคำสั่งของพระเจ้าโดยเข้าใกล้ต้นไม้ที่พระเจ้าสั่งห้าม  เสื้อผ้าของคนทั้งสองได้หลุดออกจากกาย  ทั้งสองจึงรีบคว้าใบไม้มาปิดอวัยวะที่พึงสงวนของตน   เหตุการณ์ตรงนี้บ่งบอกว่าพระเจ้าสร้างอาดัมและอีฟขึ้นมาโดยมีเสื้อผ้าสวมใส่แล้ว และทั้งสองมีความละอายเป็นธรรมชาติดั้งเดิม  จึงรีบคว้าหาใบไม้มาปกปิดอวัยะที่น่าละอายของตน  ผิดกับสัตว์ที่พระเจ้าสร้างมาให้มีขนเป็นเสื้อผ้า แต่อวัยวะเพศของสัตว์ไม่มีสิ่งใดปกปิด

ความรู้สึกละอายจึงเป็นศีลธรรมในสัญชาติของมนุษย์  นบีมุฮัมมัดได้กล่าวว่า “ความละอายเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของความศรัทธา  ถ้าใครไม่มีความละอาย คนผู้นั้นก็สามารถทำอะไรได้ทุกอย่าง” 

จากเรื่องราวการสร้างอาดัมและคำสอนของนบีมุฮัมมัดนี้เองที่เป็นที่มาของการกำหนดให้สตรีมุสลิมแต่งกายด้วยเสื้อผ้าที่ปกปิดมิดชิดเพื่อแสดงถึงการมีความละอายและการปกป้องตนเอง  ขณะเดียวกันก็เป็นการป้องกันจิตใจของเพศตรงข้ามให้พ้นจากตัณหาราคะจากการมองเรือนร่างของสตรีเพศ

Lessons from the Creation of Adam and Eve

In addition to telling us about the origin of mankind, the story of the creation of Adam in the Bible and the Quran also contains many insights that provide wisdom.

The Quran states that one of the purposes of God’s creation of Adam was to make him the starting point of the human race on this earth. However, the creation of Adam who was only a male with no females made the human race impossible. Therefore, He created a female human named Eve to be Adam’s mate and helper.

The Bible says that God created Eve by pulling out one of Adam’s ribs while he was sleeping soundly.

However, the Quran says that God created man from “a life” (not using the word “rib”) and from that life He created a mate for him. From this mate He spread many men and women on the earth.

The principles of faith in previous scriptures prevent Muslims from denying the creation of Eve from Adam’s rib. However, Muslims will adhere to God’s word on this matter from the Quran. At the same time, the Prophet Muhammad also mentioned the creation of women from a rib. But speaking in a metaphor, the nature of women is like a bent rib, which men must understand and he warned not to go against the nature of women by thinking of straightening the ribs because it will break, which means divorce. Men must therefore know this and know how to manage women's bentness.

Another lesson we learn from the story of the creation of Adam is that when God created Adam and Eve, He made them live in His Garden of Paradise, which had fruits from various trees that both of them could eat as they pleased, except for one tree that God forbade Adam and Eve from approaching. However, the Quran did not specify what tree it was, as a lesson that when God forbids something, do not even approach it.

But when Adam and Eve fell for Satan's deception and approached that tree, they forgot God's command and ate the fruit from that tree. The result was that Adam and Eve's clothes fell off their bodies.

This incident makes us understand that Islamic law will protect humans from the causes that lead to serious wrongdoings. Therefore, when forbidding adultery, the Quran does not use the word “Do not commit adultery” but use the word “Do not approach adultery” which leads to other commandments such as prohibiting men and women from being alone together, etc.

In addition, we also have another lesson, which is when Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command by approaching the tree that God forbade, their clothes fell off their bodies, so they quickly grabbed leaves to cover their private parts. This incident indicates that God created Adam and Eve with clothes on, and both of them naturally felt shy, so they quickly grabbed leaves to cover their shameful genitals, unlike animals that God created to have fur as clothing, but their genitals do not have anything to cover.

The feeling of shame is therefore a morality in human nature. The Prophet Muhammad said, “Shame is part of faith. If someone does not have shame, that person can do anything.”

From the story of the creation of Adam and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, it is the origin of the order for Muslim women to dress in clothes that cover themselves to show shame and protect themselves, while at the same time protecting the minds of the opposite sex from lust from looking at the bodies of women.
