ฮากิม บินมุอาวิยะฮฺเล่าต่อจากพ่อของเขาว่าชายคนหนึ่งได้ถามท่านนบีว่า “ผู้หญิงมีสิทธิอะไรเหนือสามีของนาง?”  ท่านนบีตอบว่า “เขาต้องให้อาหารเธอเหมือนกับที่เขากินและให้เสื้อผ้าเธอเหมือนกับที่เขาใส่  เขาต้องไม่ตบหน้าเธอ  ไม่ทำให้เธอเสียโฉม และเขาต้องไม่ทอดทิ้งเธอยกเว้นในบ้าน(เพราะเป็นรูปแบบหนึ่งของระเบียบวินัย)” (ฮะดีษฮะซัน)

คำอธิบาย :

ก) เป็นหน้าที่ของสามีที่จะต้องจัดหาสิ่งจำเป็นของภรรยา เช่น อาหาร เสื้อผ้าและที่อยู่อาศัย

ข) สามีมีอำนาจตักเตือนภรรยาอย่างเหมาะสมเมื่อเธอทำผิด

ค) ถ้าหากเตือนดีๆแล้วยังไม่เป็นผล  อาจให้การลงโทษทางร่างกายเบาๆได้ แต่ห้ามตบหน้าภรรยา

ง) อนุญาตให้หยุดพูดคุยกับภรรยาเป็นการชั่วคราวเพื่อเป็นการแสดงออกถึงความโกรธและเป็นการเตือน  แต่การให้ภรรยาออกไปนอกบ้านหรือสามีออกจากบ้านไปเป็นเวลาหลายวันถือว่าไม่ถูกต้อง  การที่ทั้งสองอยู่ด้วยกันที่บ้านยังมีความหวังที่จะทำให้ความโกรธหมดไปไม่ช้าก็เร็ว

Hakim bin Muawiyah narrated from his father that a man asked the Prophet, "What right does a woman have over her husband?" The Prophet replied, "He must feed her as he eats and clothe her as he wears. He must not slap her in the face or disfigure her, and he must not abandon her except in the house (as a form of discipline)." (Hadith Hasan)

Explanation:
