เมื่อนักประดิษฐ์หรือวิศวกรสร้างสิ่งใดขึ้นมาย่อมบอกได้ว่าตัวเองสร้างสิ่งนั้นขึ้นมาเพื่ออะไรและสิ่งนั้นมีลักษณะหรือคุณสมบัติอย่างไร เช่นเดียวกัน  เมื่อพระเจ้าสร้างมนุษย์  พระองค์ก็บอกว่าพระองค์สร้างมนุษย์ขึ้นมาเพื่ออะไรและมีลักษณะหรือคุณสมบัติอย่างไรเช่นกัน  ไม่เพียงเท่านั้น พระเจ้ายังบอกถึงคุณสมบัติและลักษณะนิสัยของมนุษย์ทั้งในเชิงบวกและเชิงลบด้วย  

คุณสมบัติเชิงบวกของมนุษย์ที่คัมภีร์กุรอานกล่าวไว้ก็คือมนุษย์มีความสำนึกในเรื่องพระเจ้าอยู่ในตัวของเขา  เพราะก่อนวิญญาณของมนุษย์จะถูกส่งมายังโลกนี้  พระเจ้าได้ถามวิญญาณของมนุษย์ว่าพระองค์คือพระเจ้าของวิญญาณทั้งหมดใช่ไหม?  ดวงวิญญาณตอบรับว่าใช่ (กุรอาน 7:173)  ดังนั้น นบีมุฮัมมัดจึงแนะนำมุสลิมที่มีทารกเกิดใหม่ให้ประกาศความยิ่งใหญ่ของพระเจ้าเบาๆที่หูของทารกเพื่อเป็นการเตือนวิญญาณในร่างของทารกให้นึกถึงสิ่งที่มันได้ยืนยันสัญญาไว้กับพระเจ้า

สำนึกในเรื่องพระเจ้าจะเห็นได้เมื่อมนุษย์เจริญวัยขึ้น  มนุษย์ต้องการสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ไว้เป็นที่พึ่งหรือยึดเหนี่ยว ดังนั้น  มนุษย์จึงแสวงหาสิ่งที่มนุษย์เชื่อว่าศักดิ์สิทธิ์ไว้เป็นสรณะแม้จะต้องใช้เงินจำนวนมากซื้อมาก็ตาม  แต่สิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่มนุษย์ยึดเหนี่ยวนั้นไม่ใช่พระเจ้าที่แท้จริง  นั่นคือเหตุผลที่ว่าทำไมพระเจ้าจึงต้องส่งนบีคนแล้วคนเล่ามาสอนให้มนุษย์รู้จักพระเจ้าที่แท้จริง  

เมื่อมนุษย์ตกอยู่ในห้วงอันตรายและไม่สามารถช่วยตัวเองได้  มนุษย์จะร้องขอความช่วยเหลือต่อสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ให้คุ้มครองเขา   สิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่มนุษย์วอนขอนั้นก็คือพระเจ้านั่นเอง  แต่มนุษย์ไม่รู้จักพระองค์และหลงไปยึดวัตถุบูชาเป็นสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ที่ไม่มีอำนาจช่วยเขาได้เลย

คุณสมบัติเชิงบวกอีกอย่างหนึ่งก็คือมนุษย์มีความรู้และความสามารถ ในตอนที่พระเจ้าสร้างอาดัมขึ้นมา  คัมภีร์กุรอานกล่าวว่าพระองค์ได้สอนอาดัมให้รู้จักพระนามของพระองค์และสรรพสิ่งที่พระองค์สร้างขึ้นมา  ด้วยความรู้ที่พระเจ้าสอนให้อาดัมนี้เอง  อาดัมจึงมีเกียรติสูงส่งจนพระองค์บัญชาให้ทุกสรรพสิ่งในอาณาจักรของพระองค์ก้มกราบต่ออาดัม  นั่นหมายความว่าหากอาดัมต้องการทำสิ่งใด  ทุกสิ่งต้องรับใช้อาดัมและลูกหลานของเขาที่จะมายังโลกนี้

ด้วยคุณสมบัติแห่งการมีความรู้นี้เองที่ทำให้มนุษย์ผู้เป็นลูกหลานของอาดัมได้รับปัจจัยในการใช้ชีวิตมากกว่าสัตว์  คัมภีร์กุรอานกล่าวว่า “พระองค์ได้ทำให้ทุกสิ่งที่อยู่ในชั้นฟ้าทั้งหลายและแผ่นดิน อำนวยประโยชน์ต่อสูเจ้าซึ่งทั้งหมดมาจากพระองค์ แท้จริงแล้ว ในนั้นมีสัญญาณสำหรับหมู่ชนผู้ใช้ความคิด” (กุรอาน 45:13)  ด้วยเหตุนี้  จึงมีแต่มนุษย์เท่านั้นที่ได้ประโยชน์จากแร่ธาตุต่างๆใต้ผืนดิน ในน้ำและในอากาศในหลากหลายรูปแบบ

นอกเหนือจากปัจจัยทางวัตถุแล้ว  คุณสมบัติอีกอย่างหนึ่งที่ทำให้มนุษย์แตกต่างไปจากสัตว์ก็คือมนุษย์มีความต้องการสิ่งที่เหนือวัตถุ  มนุษย์ชอบความสุนทรีย์  มนุษย์จึงเสพศิลปะแขนงต่างๆเพื่อหาความสุขซึ่งสัตว์ไม่ต้องการสิ่งเหล่านี้  ที่สูงไปกว่านั้นก็คือมนุษย์ต้องการสวรรค์เพราะก่อนที่อาดัมจะมายังโลกนี้  เขาอยู่ใน “ญันนะฮฺ” หรือสวนสวรรค์ที่มีต้นไม้หลากชนิดออกผลให้เขากินทุกเวลาที่เขาต้องการ มีความสงบสุข  มีสายน้ำที่สร้างความชุ่มฉ่ำให้แก่ชีวิตและไม่ต้องทำงาน  มนุษย์จึงชอบที่จะไปอยู่ในสถานที่ดังกล่าวหรือไม่ก็จำลองสวรรค์ไว้ในมุมหนึ่งโรงแรมหรือห้างสรรพสินค้า  

แต่สวรรค์จริงๆที่มีความสุขกว่านั้นและยาวนานนิรันดรอยู่ในโลกหลังความตาย สวรรค์เป็นสถานที่ที่พระเจ้าสร้างขึ้นและพระองค์เป็นเจ้าของ   พระองค์ได้กำหนดคุณสมบัติของคนที่จะเข้าสวรรค์ไว้แล้วว่าต้องเป็นคนที่ศรัทธาในพระองค์และกระทำความดี

When an inventor or engineer creates something, he can tell why he created it and what its characteristics or properties are. Similarly, when God created humans, He also tells why He created humans and what its characteristics or properties are. Not only that, God also tells about human qualities and characteristics, both positive and negative.

A positive characteristic of humans mentioned in the Quran is that humans have a sense of God in them. Because before the human soul was sent to this world, God asked the human soul if He was the God of all souls? The soul answered yes (Quran 7:173). Therefore, the Prophet Muhammad advised Muslims who have newborn babies to proclaim the greatness of God softly in the baby's ears to remind the soul in the baby's body of what it had confirmed its promise to God.

The ears of a newborn baby may not be able to hear yet, but the baby's soul can.

The sense of God can be seen when humans grow up. Humans need sacred things to rely on or rely on. Therefore, humans seek things that humans believe are sacred as refuge, even if it costs a lot of money to buy them. But the divine being that man clings to is not the true God. That is why God has to send prophets one after another to teach man to know the true God.

When man is in danger and cannot help himself, man will call upon the divine being to protect him. The divine being that man cries to is God. But man does not know Him and is misled into clinging to objects of worship that have no power to help him.

Another positive characteristic is that man has knowledge and ability. When God created Adam, the Quran says that He taught Adam His name and all that He created. With this knowledge that God taught Adam, Adam was so honored that He commanded all things in His kingdom to bow down to Adam. This means that if Adam wanted to do anything, everything had to serve Adam and his descendants who would come to this world.

It is because of this quality of knowledge that man, the descendants of Adam, received more means of life than animals. The Quran says, “He has made everything that is in the heavens and the earth “All benefits are from Him. Verily, therein are signs for people who think.” (Quran 45:13) Therefore, only humans benefit from the minerals under the earth, in the water and in the air in various forms.

Apart from material factors, another characteristic that distinguishes humans from animals is that humans have a desire for something more than material. Humans love aesthetics, so they indulge in various forms of art to find happiness, which animals do not want. What is higher is that humans want paradise because before Adam came to this world, he was in “Jannah” or paradise where there were various trees that bore fruit for him to eat whenever he wanted. There was peace, water that refreshed his life and he did not have to work. Therefore, humans liked to live in such places or simulate paradise in a corner of a hotel or a shopping mall.

But the real paradise that is happier and more eternal is in the afterlife. Paradise is a place that God created and owns. He has determined the qualifications for people to enter paradise as having faith in Him and doing good deeds.
