ในบันทึกคำบอกเล่าของนางอาอิชะฮ์ ภรรยาของท่านนบีมุฮัมมัดกล่าวว่าในช่วงปลายชีวิต มีคนทำมนตร์ดำใส่ท่านนบีมุฮัมมัดจนกระทั่งท่านคิดไปว่าท่านทำสิ่งที่ท่านไม่ได้ทำ เมื่อเป็นเช่นนี้ ท่านจึงวิงวอนขอความช่วยเหลือต่อพระเจ้าให้พ้นจากอิทธิพลของมนตร์ดำ

ภรรยาของท่านจึงถามว่าทำไมท่านไม่เอาสิ่งที่ท่านพบมาให้ผู้คนได้เห็น ท่านได้กล่าวว่า “เนื่องจากอัลลอฮฺทรงเยียวยารักษาฉันให้หายแล้ว และฉันกลัวว่าถ้าหากเอามันออกมา มันอาจจะนำสิ่งเลวร้ายมาสู่ผู้คน” หลังจากนั้น ท่านได้สั่งให้กลบบ่อน้ำแห่งนั้น

บทหนึ่งมีความหมายเป็นภาษาไทยดังนี้
“จงกล่าว ‘ฉันขอความคุ้มครองด้วยพระผู้อภิบาลแห่งรุ่งอรุณ ให้พ้นจากความชั่วร้ายของทุกสิ่งที่พระองค์ได้ทรงสร้าง และจากความชั่วแห่งความมืดของกลางคืนเมื่อมันแผ่ลงมา และจากความชั่วของผู้เสกเป่าลงไปบนปมเงื่อนและจากความชั่วของผู้อิจฉาเมื่อเขาอิจฉา’” (กุรอาน 113:1-5)
และอีกบทหนึ่งมีความหมายดังนี้ :
“จงกล่าว ‘ฉันขอความคุ้มครองด้วยพระผู้อภิบาลแห่งมนุษยชาติ ราชาแห่งมนุษยชาติ พระเจ้าของมนุษยชาติ ให้พ้นจากความชั่วของผู้แอบเข้ามากระซิบครั้งแล้วครั้งเล่า ผู้กระซิบเข้าไปในหัวใจของมนุษย์ ทั้งจากพวกญินและมนุษย์’”
(กุรอาน 114:1-6)
