หนึ่งในนั้นคือมนุษย์นิยม(Humanism)  แนวความคิดนี้เชื่อว่าด้วยความเจริญก้าวหน้าทางวิทยาศาสตร์ที่เกิดจากสติปัญญาของมนุษย์  มนุษย์สามารถกำหนดกฎเกณฑ์ต่างๆในการดำเนินชีวิตของตนเองได้โดยไม่ต้องอยู่ในกรอบของศาสนาอีกต่อไป แนวความคิดนี้จึงตัดความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างมนุษย์กับพระเจ้าทิ้งไปและใช้วิทยาศาสตร์อธิบายปรากฏการณ์ต่างๆที่เกิดขึ้นในชีวิต
