นามที่พระเจ้าสอนอาดัมคือนามต่างๆของพระเจ้าเพื่อให้มนุษย์รู้จักพระเจ้าที่แท้จริงและนามของสรรพสิ่งที่มนุษย์เรียกกันอยู่ในปัจจุบัน การสอนนามต่างๆก็คือการสอนความรู้ทั้งหลายให้แก่อาดัมที่เป็นบรรพบุรุษของมนุษย์นั่นเอง

ส่วนความสามารถนั้น พระองค์ได้ประทานให้มนุษย์จากคุณสมบัติของพระองค์บางส่วน เช่น การมองเห็น การได้ยิน ความปรีชาสามารถ ความเป็นผู้ทรงเมตตา ความเป็นผู้ทรงให้อภัย เป็นต้น

ความรู้ความสามารถที่พระองค์ประทานให้แก่อาดัมนี้เองทำให้อาดัมที่ถูกสร้างจากดินได้รับเกียรติอย่างสูงส่งจนพระเจ้าได้บัญชาให้ทุกสรรพสิ่งที่อยู่ในอาณาจักรของพระองค์กราบนบนอบต่ออาดัม คำบัญชานี้หมายความว่าถ้าอาดัมและลูกหลานของเขาบนโลกใบนี้ต้องการใช้สิ่งใดๆที่พระองค์ประทานให้บนโลกนี้ ทุกสิ่งต้องตอบสนองความต้องการของอาดัมจนสำเร็จ
