Before the time of Prophet Muhammad, the belief in a begotten son of God existed in the Arabian Peninsula, even though such beliefs were not mentioned in the scriptures. These beliefs arose from misunderstandings passed down through generations. Arabs believed angels were daughters of God, Jews believed Ezra, who compiled the teachings of Moses, was the son of God, and Christians believed Jesus was the son of God.

When Prophet Muhammad began spreading Islam, God gave him a short passage from the Quran to refu these false beliefs: “There is only one God. God is independent of anything, yet all things depend on Him.” "He neither begot nor was begotten, and there is nothing like Him." (Quran 112)

The Jews believed they had killed Jesus, but the Quran denies this, stating that Jesus did not die on the cross. Instead, it claims that someone God made to look like Jesus was crucified in his place, while Jesus was taken to heaven while still alive and will be sent back to earth again near the end of time.

The Quran affirms that Jesus was miraculously born from the virgin Mary, without any male contact. It is this miraculous birth that leads some Christians to believe that Jesus is God. Therefore, God revealed the Quran to tell the story of Adam's creation, giving Christians the perspective that if a miraculous birth without a father is used as a reason to claim Jesus is God, doesn't Adam have a greater right to be God than Jesus?
