ถ้าคุณนั่งอยู่ตามลำพังในยามดึกสงัดและห่างไกลจากผู้คน  จู่ๆคุณเริ่มรู้สึกมีคนบีบรัดตัวคุณและสั่งให้คุณพูดอะไรบางอย่าง  แต่คุณไม่เห็นเจ้าของเสียงที่สั่งคุณให้พูด  คุณจะรู้สึกอย่างไร? 

แน่นอน  ใครเจอเหตุการณ์แบบนั้นก็คงขวัญกระเจิง  ต่อให้ใจแข็งอย่างไรก็ตาม

เหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวเกิดขึ้นจริงกับมุฮัมมัดในตอนดึกช่วงท้ายๆของเดือนเราะมะฎอน ค.ศ.610 ในขณะที่เขาปลีกตัวไปอยู่ตามลำพังในถ้ำเล็กๆแห่งหนึ่งบนภูเขานอกเมืองมักก๊ะฮฺ  ในตอนนั้น เขามีอายุ 40 ปี

มุฮัมมัดรู้สึกว่าตัวเองถูกรัดพร้อมกับได้ยินเสียงสั่งว่า “จงอ่าน”  แต่เนื่องจากเขาเป็นผู้ไม่รู้หนังสือ เขาจึงตอบไปว่า “จะให้ฉันอ่านอะไร ฉันอ่านไม่เป็น”  พอสิ้นเสียง  เขาก็รู้สึกถูกรัดแน่นยิ่งขึ้นและมีเสียงสั่งว่า “จงอ่าน”  เป็นอย่างนี้ถึงสามครั้ง จนกระทั่งเสียงนั้นสั่งให้เขาอ่านตามว่า 

“จงอ่านด้วยพระนามของพระผู้อภิบาลของเจ้าผู้ทรงสร้าง  ทรงสร้างมนุษย์จากก้อนเลือด  จงอ่าน พระผู้อภิบาลของเจ้าผู้ทรงเกียรติยิ่ง ทรงสอนด้วยปากกา  ทรงสอนมนุษย์ในสิ่งที่เขาไม่รู้” (กุรอาน 96:1-5)

เมื่อมุฮัมมัดอ่านตามและอ่านทวนแล้วทวนอีกจนขึ้นใจ เขาก็หายจากการถูกรัด  แต่เหงื่อแตกท่วมตัวเพราะความกลัวจนตัวสั่น

เขารีบลงจากเขามุ่งหน้ากลับบ้านทันที   เมื่อถึงบ้าน  เขาได้ขอให้นางคอดีญะฮฺผู้เป็นภรรยาเอาผ้ามาห่มและเล่าประสบการณ์ให้นางฟัง  นางคอดีญะฮฺได้แต่ปลอบใจและให้กำลังใจสามีของนางว่าเขาจะไม่เป็นอันตรายใดๆเพราะเขาคนดี

วันรุ่งขึ้น  คอดีญะฮฺได้พาสามีของนางไปหาวะรอเก๊าะฮฺญาติผู้ทรงความรู้ของนางเพื่อขอคำปรึกษา  เมื่อได้ยินคำบอกเล่า  วะรอเก๊าะฮฺผู้มีความรู้ในคัมภีร์ทางศาสนาก่อนหน้านี้ได้บอกนางว่าสิ่งที่มาหามุฮัมมัดและสั่งให้เขาอ่านก็คือนามูส (ทูตสวรรค์ ในภาษาอาหรับเรียกว่า “มลาอิก๊ะฮฺ”) ผู้เคยนำคำสอนของพระเจ้ามาให้โมเสส

วะรอเก๊าะฮฺรู้ได้ทันทีจากการที่เขาศึกษาคัมภีร์ก่อนหน้านี้ว่าสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นกับมุฮัมมัดนั้นคือการแต่งตั้งมุฮัมมัดให้เป็นศาสนทูตของพระเจ้า  เขาบอกคอดีญะฮฺให้ดูแลมุฮัมมัดให้ดี เพราะหลังจากนี้ ผู้คนในเมืองมักก๊ะฮฺจะต่อต้านเขา และถ้าหากเขามีชีวิตยืนยาวจนถึงวันนั้น  เขาจะช่วยเหลือมุฮัมมัด  แต่ วะรอเก๊าะฮฺก็มีอายุไม่ถึงวันนั้น 

หลังจากนั้นอีกแรมเดือน  ทูตสวรรค์ได้ทะยอยนำข้อความกุรอานมาให้นบีมุฮัมมัดเพื่อนำไปอ่านให้ชาวมักก๊ะฮฺฟังตามสถานการณ์ที่แตกต่างกัน  เมื่อทูตสวรรค์นำสาส์นจากพระเจ้ามาให้  นบีมุฮัมมัดจะสั่งให้สาวกผู้ใกล้ชิดที่สามารถเขียนได้บันทึกและจดจำไว้  สาส์นที่ได้มาจะถูกนำมาอ่านทบทวนแบบลับๆหรือไม่ก็อ่านในตอนกลางคืน เพราะชาวมักก๊ะฮฺจะไม่พอใจเมื่อได้ยินเสียงอ่านกุรอาน

ตลอดทั้งปีจะมีสาส์นใหม่ๆจากพระเจ้าทะยอยลงมาเป็นตอนๆ สั้นบ้างยาวบ้างและทูตสวรรค์จะสั่งให้นบีมุฮัมมัดนำไปวางไว้ข้างหน้าหรือต่อท้ายข้อความของสาส์นที่มาก่อนหน้านั้น  

พอถึงเดือนเราะฎอนของทุกปี  กลางดึกคืนใดคืนหนึ่ง  ทูตสวรรค์จะลงมาหานบีมุฮัมมัดเพื่อทบทวนสาส์นจากพระเจ้าว่าท่านอ่านถูกต้องครบถ้วนและเรียงลำดับตามพระประสงค์ของพระเจ้าหรือไม่ 

ข้อความกุรอานหรือสาส์นจากพระเจ้าถูกประทานลงมาต่อเนื่องเป็นระยะเวลา 23 ปีของการปฏิบัติภารกิจการเป็นศาสนทูตของนบีมุฮัมมัด  กุรอานมีทั้งหมด 6,236 วรรคที่เรียกว่าอายะฮฺสั้นยาวแตกต่างกันซึ่งนบีมุฮัมมัดและสาวกอีกหลายร้อยคนสามารถท่องจำได้หมด

ปัจจุบัน  คัมภีร์กุรอานได้ถูกนำมาอ่านทบทวนในการละหมาดทุกคืนในเดือนเราะมะฎอนของทุกปีและมีกิจกรรมประกวดการท่องจำกุรอานในประเทศมุสลิมต่างๆ ทั้งนี้เพื่อเป็นการรับใช้พระเจ้าผู้ทรงสั่ญญาว่าพระองค์จะรักษากุรอานซึ่งเป็นวจนะของพระองค์ไว้จนถึงวันสิ้นโลก

Of course, anyone who has experienced such an event would be terrified, no matter how strong their heart is.

The incident actually happened to Muhammad in the late night of Ramadan 610 CE, while he was isolated in a small cave on a mountain outside Mecca. At that time, he was 40 years old.

Muhammad felt his body being squeezed and heard a voice saying, “Read.” But since he was illiterate, he replied, “What do you want me to read? I cannot read.” When the voice ended, he felt his body being squeezed even tighter and the voice said, “Read.” This was repeated three times until the voice ordered him to read,

“Recite in the name of your Lord, the Creator. He created man from a clot of blood. Recite, your Lord, the Glorious. He teaches with a pen, He teaches man what he does not know.” (Quran 96:1-5)

When Muhammad recited and recited it by heart, he was freed from the restraint, but he was sweating profusely because of fear and trembling.

He immediately descended from the mountain and headed for home. When he reached home, he asked his wife Khadijah to bring him a blanket and told her about his experience. Khadijah could only console and encourage her husband, saying that no harm would come to him because he was a good man.

The next day, Khadijah took her husband to Waraqah, her knowledgeable relative, to seek advice. Upon hearing his story, Waraqah, who was knowledgeable in religious scriptures, told her that the person who had come to Muhammad and ordered him to recite it was Namus (angels, in Arabic called “angels”) who had brought the teachings of God to Moses.

Waraqah immediately knew from his previous study of the scriptures that what had happened to Muhammad was the appointment of Muhammad as the Messenger of God. He told Khadijah to take good care of Muhammad because after this, the people of Mecca would oppose him and if he lived until that day, he would help Muhammad. But Waraqah did not live until that day.

After that, for another month, the angels brought the Qur'an to the Prophet Muhammad to read to the people of Mecca according to different situations. When the angels brought the messages from God, the Prophet Muhammad would order his close followers who could write to record and memorize them. The messages that were received would be secretly recited or read at night because the people of Mecca would not be happy when they heard the Qur'an being read.

Throughout the year, new messages from God would come down in sections, some short, some long, and the angels would order the Prophet Muhammad to place them before or after the messages that had come before them.

Every year, in the month of Ramadan, in the middle of the night, Angels would come to the Prophet Muhammad to review the message from God to see if he had read it correctly, completely and in the order that God had intended.

The Qur'an or the message from God was continuously revealed during the 23 years of the Prophet Muhammad's mission as a messenger. The Qur'an consists of 6,236 verses called verses of varying length and length, which the Prophet Muhammad and hundreds of his followers were able to memorize.

In the last year of his life, the angels visited the Prophet Muhammad twice to review the Qur'an, which made him realize that the end of his life was approaching, and what he had thought would come true. The Prophet Muhammad died at the age of 63.

Today, the Qur'an is recited in every night prayer during the month of Ramadan and there are Qur'an memorization contests in various Muslim countries, all in service of God who has promised that He will preserve the Qur'an, His word, until the Day of Resurrection.
